Electronic reproduction of a collection of chapbooks printed in London in the 19th century. Chapbooks were cheaply-produced, pocket-sized booklets, produced from the 16th century through to the second half of the 19th century. The chapbooks in this collection give a remarkable insight into the literature sold and read on the streets of Victorian London. The content of the booklets varies enormously, although nursery rhymes and folk tales are by far the most popular subject.
